Fence Design

Establishing the purpose of the fence will help determine the basic design that will best achieve the desired goal.

Marking Boundaries – Establishing Property Lines
A fence design used to mark boundaries or establish property lines can be as simple as the most basic of fence designs. It is usually a low fence to allow for spaces between the boards so that the accompanying landscape can be seen.

Safety & Security
Designed to enclose a space to make unwanted entering or exiting the property difficult, a safety fence is usually tall to prevent climbing over and less or no space between boards to prevent squeezing thru. This design should provide containment within the property.

Privacy & Noise Reduction
To accomplish complete privacy, this fence should be designed with no spaces between boards to effectively block all visuals from all angles, essentially screening all activities within the enclosure from the outside. A design with no spaces between boards will accommodate both the desire for privacy and noise reduction.

Wind Protection
A design that allows for a small amount of wind to pass through will diffuse the wind better than a solid fence. Choose a design that has small openings towards the top such as a lattice or slats.

Decorative Landscaping
Only imagination will limit the design of a decorative fence. With no other purpose but to add beauty and interest to your landscape, this design should fit effortlessly into the surrounding environment.
